Joana S. Created Magical Dance enterprise to promote and dignify the best she thinks arabic culture has to offer: its music, dance and culture.

In a world full of diversity, global comunication and cultural exchange, we ´ve also reached a time of wars, financial, religious and political endless conflicts and a mad search for money and power that turn humans into machines and hearts into cold rocks.

Arabic poetry, music and dance can bring us back to each other´s hearts and put us all in an healthy, joyous contact. Specially, ARABIC DANCE which is, for Joana S., the DANCE OF LOVE by itself.

All our services and work are based on this felt truth that ARABIC DANCE and the MUSIC that gives life to it are, par excellence, the gate to the human soul comunication and to the pure exchange of the deepest human emotions, memories , thoughts and sensations.

We believe that, each work, must be done with love and soulful intention in order to bring light, inspiration and happiness to the people who enjoy what we´re doing (in the form of classes, shows, conferences, etc...).

Tha main purpose of Arabic Dance – and I would risk to say of all forms of Art – is to reach people´s hearts and put us in contact with the ancient but forgotten truth that we´re ALL ONE.

Although we look different and we may come from different backgrounds, all the differences that seem to divide us are nothing compared with the great truth that we all have a HEART and the basic human feelings and deep needs are the same in everyone of us, independently of the superficial features that makes us apart.

We believe that bringing people together through the art of arabic dance is our main goal and from that base we build all our services.

Presenting arabic music and dance as a simple form of entertainment is a reduced and simple minded perspective that ahs been used throughout the centuries until our days where we still see images of sultans, harems and seduction exclusively related with arabic dance. This comercial image sells the Dance and turns it into an empty product as a shampoo or a car.

We believe and practice the truth that Arabic Dance and Music should never be empty of meaning, message, feelings and soul.

Arabic dance, as we present it, joins the best entertainment to the soul quality that this ancient art form carries within, uniting fun and show business to the power of emotion and spiritual connection through dance. When you see one of our shows, you should get emotioned and touched by it in a multi-dimensional way, not just entertained. If we don´t touch your heart, inspire your mind and wake up your soul, we´re not doing our job right.

Entertainment with soul is our goal in every single work we present.

 

                                        THE SERVICES WE PROVIDE

·         sHOWS Joana Saahirah presents Oriental and Egyptian Folklore shows with and without egyptian orchestra (different programs and budjets are adapted to the needs and goals of our clients). In our main show list, you can find the following formats:

 

·         BIG ORIENTAL SHOW from CAIRO – Joana Saahirah presents herself and her orquestra (it can be the full orquestra composed of 17 musicians or a reduced orquestra composed by seven musicians) in the show she currently presents in the best venues of Cairo, Egypt. The duration of this show is about 1,15 h and you can enjoy several styles of dance within Joana S. reportoire ( classical oriental dance, sagats, Alexandrian Dance with Mellaya, Tahtib and Saiidi Dance, Shamadan, Nubian, special tabla solo, etc ).

 

 

·         ORIENTAL DANCE AND EGYPTIAN FOLCLORE SHOW on CD – Joana Saahirah presents a  series of smaller performances on Cd combining different styles od dance within her extense reportoire. This shorter shows can last between 15-20 minutes and 40-45 minutes.

·          Joana Saahirah teaches Arabic Dance and Egyptian Folclore as well as she performs them, introducing her own vision and teaching method based on the pleasure and joy of the learning process of this fantastic dance.

This method joins the demanding and organic technique of Oriental Dance with a therapeutic   and a self-development facet that will  contribute to create in the student all the qualities that a  good dancer should have or simply bring all the benefits of arabic dance to the life of the one who learns it.

 

Joana Saahirah presents the following formats of workshops:

·         Intensive one week/weekend/month workshop to beginners as well as advanced students and teachers/professionals. Depending on the workshop level, it will be taught technique and/or coreography programmed for the difficulty level in announced in the programme.

This kind of workshops are made for all kind of cultural and dance festivals in Egypt and abroad.

 

·         Special  Workshop for Children with a specific approach to Arabic Dance that aims to develop children´s creativity, self-confindence, sensibility to their bodies and character enhancement. Arabic Dance is a wonderful tool   to awaken children´s sense of music, touch, feeling and comunication skills besides giving them a positive attitude towards their growing bodies and personalities.

 

·         Special Workshop for Seniors with a programme sculpted to awaken senior´s sensibility and proudness on themselves and their life experience and the priceless knowledge that comes with it!

 

Arabic  Dance is taught with a lighter approach to technique and a bigger focus on   the pure joy of dance.

Rediscovering the body, the senses and the ability to express themselves, students find an healthy and fun way to exercise as well as a path of self-discovery and self-esteem.

 

·         Private lessons in Cairo where Joana Saahirah currently lives, teaches and performs during most of the time.

·         You can also book private lessons in Portugal when Joana S. visits her country.

 

Joana S. prepares a special class programme and method according to the student she is teaching. The specific qualities, needs, difficulties and goals of each student are held in consideration and cooperate to create classes designed to fit each student and give him the best results in a short amount of time.

The private lessons last from 1 hour up to three hours each time and they can be done with just one student or small groups.

 

·         Monthly dance Workshops in Cairo – Joana S. will be teaching monthly workshops  in Cairo starting from next October . These workshops are  opened  to resident egyptians and foreigners and to students from out of Egypt. These workshops are taught by levels and are held during the weekends.
